Frances Priddy Nelson, 84, of Moorefield Store Rd., Spencer, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at R.J. Reynolds-Patrick County Memorial Hospital in Stuart.
A native of Stokes County, N.C., she was born August 18, 1916, and was a daughter of the late Walter A. and Vera Young Priddy.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Paul David Nelson Jr., and a sister, Patsy Priddy.
She retired from the Hardin Reynolds Memorial School cafeteria and was a member of North View Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, George T. (Dick) Nelson of the home; four children, George Wade Nelson of Fieldale, Paul David Nelson Sr. of Berea, Ky., Thomas Hanes Nelson of Ridgeway and Peggy Nelson Dudley of Union Hall; two brothers, Cranford Priddy of Pine Hall, N.C., and Hanes Priddy of Madison, N.C.; two sisters, Ann Joyce of Madison, N.C., and Virginia Vaden of Walnut Cove, N.C.; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Howell Funeral Home chapel in Stuart. Elders Milton Gunter and James Wilkins officiated. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Don Priddy, Kevin Nelson, Mike Nelson, Harbour Gilley, Joey Compton, Keith Donovant and Delano Wood.
