Mrs. Mabel M. Douglass, 83, of Burlington died at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday of last week at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. Born May 10, 1891, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Willis V. and Eliza Hendrix Polk. She was a lifelong resident of the Burlington area.
Her first marriage was on January 28, 1911, to Clarence L. Stout, who died April 8, 1948. She was later married to William Douglass, who died in 1965.
She was a member of the Burlington First Brethren Church, Women's Missionary Society of the church and the Burlington Township Extension Homemakers Club.
Surviving are two sons, Loris P. Stout of Rt. 1, Frankfort, and Carrol L. Stout of Rt. 1, Flora; a sister, Mrs. Edna Bock of Park Ridge, Ill.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One brother preceded her in death.
Services were Saturday at Neptune Funeral Home with Rev. Albert O. Curtright and Rev. Charles M. Wickizer officiating. Burial was in Burlington Cemetery.
