She is survived by a daughter, Jo Clawson Haliburton of Springfield, Mo., and a son, William Andrew “Andy” Clawson and his wife Mary of Mount Pleasant, S.C. She was grandmother to four children and great-grandmother to six. She was Aunt Alice to numerous nieces and nephews. Her great and good friends, Bill and Delores Shelby, their two daughters and two grandsons became a part of her extended family.
Alice was active in civic and community affairs from the time she was young matron to her final days of volunteer work with the St. Edwards Hospital Auxiliary. She was active in volunteer work in Ada, Okla., El Dorado, and Muskogee, Okla. She was a woman of spirit and compassion.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She will rest in the midst of her departed family and at the side of her dear husband. The casket will be closed. Alice loved flowers and considered them a fond tribute.
