Wanda Lois Brown died in San Antonio, Texas on October 26 after a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis Eugene Brown and Laura Litton Brown, her sister, Hazel Brown, her sister and brother-in-law Joyce Brown Wilkins and Dr. Charles F. Wilkins, Jr., and her nephew Charles F. Wilkins III. She is survived by two nieces, Wanda Wilkins Heflin and Laura Wilkins Speer, and one nephew, Michael Wilkins, all of Russellville, Arkansas, and many great nieces and nephews.

Wanda was a graduate of England, Arkansas High School, Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, the University of Arkansas School of Medical Technology and Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas where she received a Master of Science degree in Chemistry. She worked as a Research Chemist in the Laboratory Division of the US Army Institute of Surgical and Burn Research at Fort Sam Houston, Texas for over 40 years. She was active in the American Chemical Society as a National Officer and was a member of the First Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas for 55 years.

A graveside funeral service will be held at the Lonoke Cemetery on Friday, October 30 at 2 p.m.. Boyd Funeral home of Lonoke, (501-676-2375) is coordinating the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of San Antonio, 515 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas, 78215, or your local Hospice.
