Harry L. Davis, Sr., 77, a resident of Ogunquit, ME and Leesburg, FL died Thursday, (September 5, 2002) at York Hospital in York, ME. Mr. Davis was born in Glendale, RI, on Oct. 29, 1924, a son of Avery and Gladys (Gerstle) Davis. He graduated from Burriville High School and later became a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, and Rhode Island School of Design. He was former president of Warren Woolen Corp. in Stafford Springs and on the Board of Trustees for Johnson Memorial Hospital. Mr. Davis was an avid golfer and member of the Cedar Knob Country Club in Somers, the Silver Lake Country Club in Leesburg, FL, and the Cape Neddick Country Club in Cape Neddick, ME, and also was a former member of the Rotary Club in Stafford Springs. He was a sports fan who loved all sports. He was predeceased by his first wife, Nina Davis who died in 1985. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Joyce Hetu Davis; two sons, Harry Davis Jr. of Enfield, and Glenn Davis of Somers; a daughter, Deborah Davis Littlefield of Arundel, ME; two step daughters, Cheryl A. Nuttall of Abington, and Dawn M. Reynolds of North Grosvenordale; and nine grandchildren. Friends may call at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Rd., Wells, ME, Sunday, 1-3 p.m., with a service following at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells. The family would like to thank Ogunquit Rescue and York Hospital Staff for their caring professionalism.
