Andrew Russell was a widower with three children when he married Polly Stewart in Jackson County, Georgia in 1816. Many Russell researchers believe his first wife was Mary Parker, but no documentation has been found for his first marriage. The children by his first wife were: Seabourne Russell, born about 1811; he married Orlena Barton on 13 June 1833 in Perry County, Alabama; Louisa Colensworth Russell, born 8 Nov 1813; she married Adam Shaffer on 7 April 1830 in Perry County, Alabama; Mary Parker Russell, born about 1814; she married Gad Pierce 18 March 1841 in Perry County, Alabama. Mary died before her father wrote his will in 1848, but her place of death and burial is not known.

Of the children born to Andrew and his second wife, Mary (Polly) Stewart, a place of burial has not been found for their daughter, Martha Mildred; she married William Adcock on 6 Sept. 1839 in Perry County, Alabama. They later moved to Arkansas.
