Parents were Albert William and Adele L. (Antholz)Behrends. born on a farm southwest of Auburn, Ne.
One of 7 children, baptized at Martin Luther Lutheran Church south of Johnson, NE. on april 2, 1939. confirmed at St. John's (Stone)Lutheran Church west of Auburn, NE. . He attended Muddy Rural School, south of Rohrs, Ne.
He served in the US Army during WWII.
Feb. 12, 1947 he married Doris (Moore)Moore at Hiawatha, KS.
They then lived ibn the Johnson, NE. area. where he drove for Darling Transfer. In 1973 they moved to Lincoln, Ne. where he was a security guard for Constructors Incorporated. In 1985 he retired they moved back to Johnson, Ne.
He died at the home of his sister-in law, Marilyn Heater in Lincoln having reached the age of 71 years, nine months and 23 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Orval.
He had one son, James. two grandchildren, four brothers, Melvin, Ivan,Clarence and Maynard. ones sister, Mrs. Lenora Remmers. Step-brother Allister and a sister in law, Mrs. Ora Behrends.
Services were held April 26, at Casey-Witzenburg Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE. Graveside services with military honors and Interment was in the Johnson, Ne. Cemetery.
