FUNERAL SERVICES FOR WILLIAM FORT HELD SEPTEMBER 24

Funeral services for William Fort, 67, of rural Thief River Falls were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Sinding’s Funeral Chapel. Fort died Friday at Northwestern Hospital.

Rev. Melvin Walla, Pastor of our Savior’s Lutheran church, officiated at the services. Mrs. Sherman Idso was organist and soloist. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.

Pallbearers were Albert Walker, Frank Srnsky, Alfred Hertwig, Gunnie Gunderson, Oscar Stenvik, and Oscar Bakke.

William Fort, a son of the late Anton & Mary Ann Kukaska Fort, was born March 5, 1901 at Hillsboro, ND. As a child he moved with his parents to the Erie community.

There he received his elementary education and grew to manhood. He farmed for a number of years in the Goodridge area, was employed for some time in the mines on the Iron Range, and for the past 21 years had lived in Thief River Falls.

He was married on June 10, 1925 at Grygla to Julia Sordahl. She survives together with one son, Kenneth, who is a warrant officer at Fort Carson, CO.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.
