The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Linwood United Methodist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Melinda Penry. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074.
Mr. Owen was born Dec. 23, 1933, in Davidson County to Ivens G. Owens and Genorah Briggs Owens. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a self-employed carpenter. He was also a member of VFW Post 3074 and the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Conrad Owen of the home; a son, Andrew Owen and his wife, Juanita, of Huntsville, Ala.; a daughter, Robbin Swing and her husband, Rene, of Lexington; two grandchildren, Tess Swing of Lexington and Graham Owens of Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers, Wilford Owens and Hulin Owens, both of Lexington; and two sisters, Letha Shoaf and her husband, the Rev. Max Shoaf, and Opal Rowe and her husband, John, all of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
