Neva Cross was born on October 23, 1898 in Charter Oak, Iowa, the eldest child of Julia and George Cross. As a youngster, the family moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Wife of Kenneth G. Blood who was the chief projectionist at the Hollywood Theater, they were married on July 6, 1919 in Sioux Falls. Sister to Ione (Bill) Allan, Georgia (Joe) Wolden, Warren (Arley) Cross, Sam (Velma) Cross, and Judy (Ernie) Johnson. She had three nephews, George Allan of Ames, Iowa, Lon Cross and Mike Johnson, both of Sioux Falls, and three neices, Sally Cross Wohl, Judy Cross Luing and Linda Johnson Varud, all of Sioux Falls. Neva was active in the Order of the Rebeccas, the female branch of the Odd Fellows Lodge. She and her sisters, sisters-in-law, and friends formed a sewing and arts 'n crafts group they simply called "Club." Neva and Ken lived in Sioux Falls all their lives. After Ken's death, Neva spent her retirement winters at her Apache Junction, Arizona home where Georgia and Joe, Judy and Ernie, and Sam also wintered. She spent summers at her beloved cabin at Lake Madison, South Dakota, where family would gather for reunions and fun weekends. She and her brother Sam, who had a cabin nearby, would get together for evening meals and talk about "the one that got away" that day.
