Army Pfc Michel was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. He died Oct. 24 in Zhari province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. Devin was the son of Terry and Rebecca (Broshous) Michel. A 2008 graduate of Stockton High School, Devin played football, basketball, baseball and was a member of the band. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantry man at the age 17. He began basic training on June 14, 2008, stationed in Fort Benning, Ga. After basic he was stationed in Fort Carson, Colo., in the 4th Infantry. On Oct. 3, 2008, he and Anika Entmeier were married. On May 30, 2009, he was deployed on his first tour of duty. Devin enjoyed playing sports, with his dog Jade, and playing drums.
