Cecil H. Gerkin, 78, Askew Road, died Tuesday at his home of natural causes. A native of Martin County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Jonathan and Della Thomas Gerkin. He was retired from the Army after 20 years service and had worked 18 years in Civil Service at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was a World War 2 and Korean War veteran.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane Stagner of Orrick, Missouri; two sons, Jerry Gerkin of San Antonio, Texas and John A. "Tony" Gerkin of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Jones of Shoals, Indiana, Ilene Gerkin of Bedford, Indiana and Helen Robinson, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; one brother, Virgil Gerkin of Sullivan, Indiana; and one half-brother, Clay Gerkin, of Oaktown, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha in 1988, one son Lannie Wayman Gerkin, two brothers Lawrence and Dale Gerkin, one sister Mae Dollar, two half-brothers Robert and Jay Gerkin, and one half-sister Ruth Williams.
