Sally Lilla Wesley Rothhammer, 74, of Melrose, died Monday, November 22, 2004, at her daughter's home in Fort Myers.
She was born in Gainesville and was a lifetime resident of Melrose. She was a homemaker, a former reporter for the Gainesville Sun in the '60s, and a manager for Little Champ for 10 years. She was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church and was president of the Methodist Women for two years. After she lost her sight a few years back, she remained one of the sweetest people to be around. One never felt that she was physically challenged. She had sent out 30 "All Occasion" cards per month for 30 years to her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by daughters Peggy Ann Rothhammer, Seminole, Ala.; Teena Katrina Whitehouse, Melrose; Linda Joyce Van Cleve, Fort Myers; Ellen Marie Collingwood, Melrose; son, Bruce Lyle Rothhammer, Fort Myers; brother, Chester Wesley, Donaldsonville, Ga.; sisters, Eloise Easterling, Melbourne; Nina Thompson, Pahn Bay; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 27, with Rev. Don Dalton officiating. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 25 Nov 2004.)
