1867 purchased a farm of 397 acres in Van Buren Twp., having passed a few years in Indian Creek Twp. on land given by James B. Marker's mother. His mother was Anna Reynolds, Marker, Hatfield, Lidgard. She had 3 husbands. She came to Pulaski Co. with Lidgard and she died 03 July 1854, leaving one child by her last husband- Mahalia Lidgard. Could she have married Johnson Lidgard and was he a brother of Soloman? See bottom of page 4.

She bore her husband one son, a member of the German Baptist Church. d: Dec 1867 Married Sept, 1869 to Rachel Paul or Shephard b: 1837 She borne him six children. She was a member of the Christian Church. d: 1908. Johnson was employed on his father's farm until Sept. 1861, when he enlisted in Company H, Forty-sixth Indiana Volunteer Infantry; in the fall of 1864, he re-enlisted as a veteran in the same company, and was mustered out in the fall of 1865. He took part in all the battles around Vicksburg, and was with Gen. Banks in the Red River campaign. At the close of the war, he engaged in farming in Indian Creek Twp. Mr. Lidgard is a Democrat.

Soloman was a tailor and came to the US in 1833 from Lincolnshire, England. He settled in Marion County, OH north of Columbus where be bought eighty acres of land, and where he married Mary A. Hatfield, who also came from Lincolnshire, England.
In 1838, he sold his place and removed to Pike County, IL, west of Springfield along the MO line where he farmed on shares until the spring of 1841, when he came to this township (Indian Creek Twp.) and entered 160 acres, on which he lived until the fall of 1867. He bought south part of Sec. 26 of Indian Creek Twp. in Cass Co. in 1857. In 1872 he sold it to J & H Lidgard. Then he moved to Van Buren Township, Pulaski County, where he died, April 4, 1874. Soloman and Mary Ann were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

He lived in Pulaski County at the time of his death from Lung Fever. He had no Will. Heirs who received from the estate was his widow Mary Ann Lidgard and children. His children received $48.37 1/6 each.

Mary Ann funeral services were on the 30th of July 1884 and conducted by Elder Buckles of Winamac. All 12 of her children were living when she died.
The 1860 Census stated that Mary Ann could not read or write.Solomon married MaryAnne Hatfield about 1835 in Ohio.
They had 13 children. They moved from Ohio to Pittsfield Illinois and then to Pulaski County Indiana. Solomon came to the United States with two Brothers, William and Johnston. MaryAnne Hatfield is the daughter of Henry Hatfield and are from Lincolnshire England. They are the parents of Charles Lidgard and the grandparents of Ulysses Lidgard and the great grand parents of Harry O Lidgard Other children to Solomon and Maryanne Hatfield Lidgard can be found on the Solomon Lidgard web site.
