He was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Harry and Elizabeth Basler Heck. He was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School, Class of 1950.
Mr. Heck was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. Gerald was employed as a Sheet Metal Worker and a member of the Sheet Workers Union Local 44, where he served for many years as the treasurer.
Mr. Heck was a member of St. Therese's Church, Old River Road in Wilkes-Barre. He was an avid fisherman.
Gerald was a loving and devoted family man. His great sense of humor will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Steckel; and by his brothers Harry and Robert Heck.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Barbara Hughes Heck; children Gerald D. Heck and his wife, Lisa, Mountain Top; Cheryl Tantalla and her husband, William, Eynon; Bonnie Reynolds and her husband, Eric, Bernville; grandchildren Karissa and Gerald M. Heck; Michelle and Billy Tantalla; Amber Reynolds; Alex and Andrew Steckel; brothers Donald and Edward Heck, of Wilkes-Barre; sisters Leona Konopka, Phyllis Heck and Lucille Schneikart, of Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 in St. Therese's Church, Old River Road, Wilkes-Barre, Msgr. Francis J. Callahan officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call on Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Eastern PA Chapter, 961 Marcon Blvd., Suite 452, Allentown, PA 18109
