SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. David Paul Wilson of Shreveport passed away on Friday, July 2, 1999 at the age of 45. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 23, 1953. The Wilson family soon settled in Vivian, Louisiana. David was a honor student at North Caddo High School, where he was drum major of the band, and graduated in 1971. David graduated with honors from Louisiana Tech University in 1975 where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, and continued his professional education by earning a Doctorate of Juris Prudence from the Louisiana State University School of Law in 1978. David was a highly respected attorney in the legal community practicing law in the Shreveport area for the past 21 years. He was a full partner in the firm of Wilson and Stephens. David took great pride in helping people through his profession, and was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, the Shreveport Bar Association, the American Trail Lawyers Association, the Christian Legal Society, and was on the Advisory Board of the ArkLaTex Crisis Pregnancy Center. A long time member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church, David taught Sunday School for many years and was actively involved in many community service related activities. Out of his love for youth, he became a certified coach with the National Youth Sports Coaches Association and coached church-affiliated boys baseball and girls softball teams for 13 years. For many years he taught in the Royal Ambassador program of thechurch. As an ordained Deacon foryears, David served in many capacities including chairman of the DeaconBody. For 12 years he served on the Education Committee of Trinity Heights Christian Academy. From 1991-1996, David was on the Education Board of the Mississippi Private School Association, serving on the Executive Committee for three years. David loved hymn and often assisted in his church worship services by playing his trombone in an instrumental ensemble. Committed to Christian principles and strong convictions about the Bible and the Word of God, David was a member of the Shreveport East Chapter of the Gideons International. A kind, competent and compassionate man with a warm heart and a great sense of humor, David will be remembered by countless friends, professional peers, and most of all by his loving family, David Wilson's greatest joy was that of being with his family even withthe demands of his profession and many responsibilities, he consistently made time for and demonstrated deep love and concern for his wife of twenty years, Beverly Taylor Wilson. He truly modeled Christian character and fatherly love for each of his children: Amy Elizabeth Wilson, age 18; Jason Paul Wilson, age 15; and Laura Lee Wilson, age 12. David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ralph S. Briggs, Sr. and Mildred Van Horn Briggs, his paternal grandparents W. P. and Mary Emma Wilson, and his father, Mr.Donald B. Wilson
