Pastor Bob Hamilton, age 59, of rural Bucyrus, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 06, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born on October 25, 1949 in Marion, Ohio. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Col. Frank and Judy Hamilton of Columbus, Ohio, and was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Mary and William Walter. He married Donna Kissling on May 15, 1976 in Waldo, Ohio and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Sarah (Tom) Dornbirer of Nevada, Leah (Joe) Latshaw of New Albany, Megan (Shane) Schifer of Bucyrus. Along with four grandchildren, Bradley Watkins, Austin Dornbirer, Samantha Dornbirer and Jacob Latshaw. Bob is also survived by a brother, Frank Hamilton II of Delaware, Ohio; a sister, Sandy (Jon) Burnside of Findlay; and a stepbrother, Dana (Terry) Walter of Hemet, California.Pastor Bob was currently the pastor of both Martin Luther Lutheran Church in rural Bucyrus and Nevada Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nevada. He previously served both St. James Lutheran Church in Payne and St. John Lutheran Church in Briceton.Pastor Bob was passionate about sharing the gospel, which included ministering to both his congregations and individuals in the community. He was also active in various committees in the Northwestern Ohio Synod. He graduated from Marion Catholic High School and went on to receive a Bachelors degree in marketing from The Ohio State University in Columbus. Later he received his Masters of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He was also a Veteran of the US Navy having served during the Vietnam War. For hobbies he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and canning, making candy, weight lifting, and riding his motorcycle. Bob also enjoyed singing and writing short stories and poems. Funeral services for Pastor Bob Hamilton will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Bucyrus, with Bishop Marcus Lohrmann and Gene Luidhardt, SAM, officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Luther Church Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #181, Bucyrus.
