Wilmer Clinton "Scroggins" Shifflett, 92, of Elkton, passed away Dec. 20, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Shifflett was born Oct. 14, 1919, near Elkton, and was a son of the late Henry C. and Alice Moubray Shifflett.
He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton, the Triple A Antique Car Association and the Historical Truck Association. He was former fire chief and a member of the Elkton Fire Company. He retired from Merck & Co. in 1983.
Mr. Shifflett is survived by his wife, LaGretta R. Shifflett; a son, Douglas Shifflett and wife, Debbie, of Elkton; a brother, Marshall Shifflett of Elkton; sisters, Ruby Haney and Ruth Morris; grandchildren, Erin Morris and husband, Bobby, Trent Gooden, Dustin Shifflett, Joe Morris, Phillip Morris and wife, Kelli; four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and caregiver, Linda Luanne Raines.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Reno Mable Monger Shifflett; daughters, Rebecca Shifflett and Tappy Gooden; sons, Larry Joe Morris and Terry Morris; grandson, Nathan Morris; and a number of brothers and sisters.
The Rev. Robert W. Smith Jr. will conduct the funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton. Burial will follow in Elk Run Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
