Ethard B. (Curly) Johnson, 71, of 1704 W. Springfield Ave., C, died at 6 a.m. Friday (June 12, 1981) at home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Renner-Wikoff Funeral Home, Urbana. Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 22, 1909, at Jabez, Ky., the son of Elmer and Esther Roberts Johnson. He married Julia Neer Jan. 28, 1933, at Covington, Ind. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Lester B. Johnson of Champaign; three brothers, Elzie Johnson of Urbana, and Zelmer Johnson and Delmer Johnson of Champaign; one sister, Marie Shroyer of La Mesa, Calif.; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. He was a life member of the Elks and the Moose. He had worked at the University of Illinois several years and retired in 1973 after 17 years with the city of Champaign. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Heart Fund.
