John was the oldest of nine children born to John William Hubbard and Myrtle Leona Burleson Hubbard. After him and Una Lea, his sister, were born it was about 10 year before his other brothers and sisters were born. So it was as if they had two sets of families.

John attended the Basin Spring s school and the Basin Springs Baptist Church. He learned to work hard as a child and never outgrew that part of his personality until the very end of his life. His was a tough life..mostly learned from the 'school of hard knocks' - never was privileged to learn the qualities of trust, compassion and not even outward expression of love to others until the end of his life.

He moved from Texas to Oklahoma with the Jones Family as a young man to help that family with their farm. He married one of their daughters. Glyness Jones Bennett on March 1, 1940 and afterwards they returned to Texas. He went to work for the M-K-T Railroad in Dension. This job lead them to the Dallas area in 1950. They would continue to live in the Dallas metroplex until moving to their lake property in 1978, after 38 years of dedicated service. After all those years, he seemed to adjust to retirement overnight! More time for gardening..fishing..hunting..and attending to Glyness's endless chores..and more time to spend with his grandchildren, especially all of the boys.

John and Glyness were blessed with three lovely daughters, Sue, Vonceil and Edwina. They also had 10 grandchildren.

John's birth certificate show that he was born in 1919.The 1920 census for his parents which is dated Feb 5 shows that he was not born yet.
