Merle L. Areford, 38, of 220 North Porter street, Waynesburg, died at his home at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 1955.
Born April 9, 1917 at Mt. Morris, he was the son of Alberta Lemley Areford, and the late Walter Areford. He spent most of his life in Waynesburg.
He is survived by his mother and two daughters, Sandra and Judy Areford of Bridgeport, W. Va.
He attended Waynesburg grade schools and Waynesburg High School. He was a welder by trade and had been employed by steel companies at Aliquippa and Washington. He had spent 3-1/2 years in the Marine Corps and was recalled to active duty in 1950 for one year having been discharged as a corporal.
He was a member of the James Farrell Post No. 330 American Legion and V.F.W. Post No. 4793 of Waynesburg.
