TRAVELERS REST, SC - J.T. "Papa J" Ward, 67, passed away Monday, March 14, 2005, at his home.
Born in Jackson County, N.C., he was the son of the late Tolvin and Birdell Ward. Papa J was a carpenter and was a member of Cooper Masonic Lodge #282.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Ernestine Ward; three sons, Jerry Ward, David Ward and his wife, Dot, and Tony Ward and wife, Cheryl; a daughter, Diane Ford; six grandchildren, Amanda and Cassie Ford, A.J., Jessica, Ashley and Chantel Ward; and two sisters, Rosie Bryson and Stella Ward. He was predeceased by two sons, Dennis and Donald Ward; a brother, L.C. Ward; and a sister, Margaret Batson.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Travelers Rest.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Grand View Memorial Gardens.
