Chester Thomas "C.T." Akins, age 69, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Atlanta Medical Center. Mr. Akins was born on June 10, 1940 in Cartersville, GA to Chess and Willie Mae Akins. He worked in the construction industry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chess and Willie Akins; his wife, Etta Jane Johnson; and a sister, Jane.

Mr. Akins is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Ronnie) J. Lund of Melrose, Peggy Sue (Wayne) Jones of Trenton, and Theresa Akins of Palatka; three sons, Tommy Akins of Trenton, Peter (Marty) Akins of Covington, GA, and Chuck (Robin) Akins of Covington, GA; two sisters, Sara (Melvin) Lucus and Ruby (Dan) Strandbeg, both of Covington, GA; a brother, Runt (Janet) Akins of Covington, GA; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor David Jones officiating. Visitation was held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Watson Funeral Home.

Arrangements were under the care of Watson Funeral Home in Trenton.
