Barney E. McIntyre, 78, died at 10:44 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Home Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana.

He was born in Attica, Indiana, to the late Lander and Murtty Norris McIntyre. On April 1, 1950, in Lafayette, he married Virginia P. Barnett. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by sons, Eddy, Mike and Chuck McIntyre; five brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are a daughter, Christine E. Gallagher (husband: Jeffrey), a son, Barney McIntyre Jr. two brothers, Goodston McIntyre and Sherman McIntyre (wife: Marily), grandchildren, Thomas M. Farrell Jr. and Angela K. Thigpen (husband: Ray), three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army.
