Coach Ronald Ray Ehmann played football in his hometown school of Scotch Plains, New Jersey with the Blue Raiders. Coach Ehmann a 6"0 190 pounds at the time was an All Star as the best linebacker in the County. After graduating from high school He attended Fort Scott Jr College, and Kansas State University. Majoring in Education, Biology and Physical Education, he then relocated to Miami,Florida in 1968 where he worked as a physical education teacher for Miami Springs Sr High School. After transferring to Miami Killian Sr High he worked as a biology and physical education teacher before taking over the P.E. Department. He was the kind of guy who just overwhelmed you with his gaeity and love of life. Ron Ehmann took a personal interest in his students, and expected the utmost respect of each other. He also expected nothing short of the best from his students, and wanted them to excal and exceed their own expectations. On the evening of June 10th, 1975 after attending the "All Sports Banquet" where he was the Master of Ceremony. tragically Coach Ehmann passed away in a traffic accident. He was 34 years old. Prior to his untimely death he was to have accompanied six of Killian's top athletes to compete nationally in the Marine Corps Phyiscal Fitness Test. Coach Ehmann's memory will live on in the hearts of many. On August 11th, 1979 Ron Ehmann Park was dedicated in his honor. The park is a 14.5 acre community park adjacent to Killian High School. and features, basketball court, Tennis courts, a recreation building bike path and a quiet resting place. Coach Ehmann was active in sports and Physical Fitness and loved the out of doors. He touched so many lives. May his memory live forever in our hearts. We miss you COACH. He left behind his wife Jimmie Ehmann(1945-2008) who also was an educator and a multitude of friends and co-workers.
