Staff Sergeant Beck one of 87 killed
aboard C-124 Globemaster II #50-0100 when
the transport crashed on liftoff from
Larson Air Force Base, Moses Lake,
Washington.

It was the deadliest aviation accident in
history at that time. The airplane was
departing for Kelly Air Force Base in
San Antonio, during "Operation Sleigh Ride"
to take military personnel and some
family members home for Christmas during
the Korean War.
