Eathena M. Acosta, 79 died Monday Sept. 14, 2009 at her home. A native of Archer, FL. she came to Gainesville from Jacksonville, FL over forty years ago. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she served in the chancel choir, and was a member of the Tuesday Evening Prayer Service. Survivors include: Two sons Michael L. Acosta, Gainesville, FL. Brian K. Acosta, Jacksonville, FL., Three daughters, Earnestine A. Gardner, Gainesville, FL. Merrian V. Washington, Decatur, GA. Maria L. Acosta-King, Jacksonville, FL., One sister Margery Pierce, Whiteville, NC Eleven Grandchildren, Eight Great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Acosta will be held on Sat. at 10:00 AM Sept. 19, 2009 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. with Rev. Geraldine W. McClellan officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the care of Chestnut Funeral Home 18 N.W. 8th. Ave Gainesville, FL. Visitation 2:00-7:30PM Friday and on Sat at the church from 8:30 AM until the hour of the service. There will be no viewing after the eulogy. The family will receive friends on Friday at the chapel from 6:00-7:30 PM The cortege will form at the home of Mrs. Acosta 10:15 S.E. 10th Terrace at 9:15 AM
