Alvin Carl Shields, a Parker County rancher, died Sunday morning at his home.
He was born March 14, 1910 in Jack County and attended Damron, Antelope and Jacksboro schools. In the mid-1930's, he moved to Parker County with his parents. Shields and his family lived in the Adell Community since 1938.
From 1941 to 1945, he worked for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego, CA., where he met and married Ruth Windle of Oklahoma. Shields returned to Parker County in 1945 and worked for Southern Airways from 1965 to 1974.
He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Peaster Independent School District for 12 years and was also a member of the Texas Farm Bureau. He Belonged to the Calvary Assembly of God and served as secretary-Treasurer of the church and as a deacon for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; three sons, Carl and Alton of Weatherford and Doyle of the home; One daughter, Allene of Lubbock and two grandchildren, six brothers, Jasper, Jarrett and Hershel of Jacksboro, Kertis of San Marcos, Ca., Rollan of Springtown and Elzie of Las Vegas, Nev.; Two sisters, Vera Young of Fort Worth and Inez Frame of Oklahoma City, OK.
Sevices are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning at Cotten-Bratton Chapel, Weatherford and graveside services at Lynn Creek Cemetery in Jack County at 1:30 p.m.
