Pearl Sherley or Purley Abbott was born November 16, 1882 to Martha Shoafstall and Willis Abbott in Bracken County, Kentucky. He married Addie Reese on February 18, 1903 in Denning, Franklin County Arkansas. This marriage ended in divorce. They had one son Lyle Gardie Abbott. Mrs. P.S. Abbott listed in his obituary as follows was his second marriage. The obituary was typed word for word from original.

P.S. Abbott, 37 years of age died in a local hospital Sunday Morning. He is survived by his wife and a son who reside at Phillips, Okla: his mother, Mrs. William McDonald, a brother, Frank, and a sister, Mrs John Dyer, all living at Freemont, Neb. Mr. Abbott was a miner by occupation at Tahoma.
Funeral services were held at the Putnam Undertaking parlors at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon by Ref. Paul G. Preston, pastor of the First Christian church. Interment was in Oak cemetery.
