George W Lance 85 of 14 Post Road Asheville,
died Friday at his residence.
A life long resident of Buncombe County he was the son of the late Arthur Ervin and Harriet Bessie Pressley Lance.
He was a member of Morning Side Baptist Church.
He was a former Deputy Sheriff with Buncombe County having served under Sheriff Lawrence Brown. He was also employed with Southern Railroad and the US Forestry Service and BI Lo Grocery.
Serviving are his wife, Ann Taylor Lance, Four daughters Nancy Lance Hensley, Joyce Bunch and Lisa Cogburn of Asheville. Linda Gosnell of Lakeland Florida,two sons George A Lance and Steve Blankenship of Asheville. A brother Glenn Lance of Fairview 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
