was a retired carpenter and cabinet maker and was a former employee of Morgan Maufactoring.
He was a native of Buncombe County.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs Sadie Lance

one step-daughter Mrs Dora Parker of Asheville.
One son Jesse B Rochester of Chesterfield SC
one half brother, James Rochester of Jacksonville
Beach Florida,one sister Mrs Sara Revis of Asheville, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm in The State Street Church of God. The Rev R E Conner and Rev A V Childers will officate.
Pallbearers will be Porter Lance, F G Wilson, Marion Guy, Glenn Lance, Donald Fisher, Joe Kilpatrick and Jimmie Johnson.
Honarary pallbearers will be W K and J V Roberts, Garrison Henson, Dill Orr and Sheriff L E Brown.
Burial will be in the Boylston Baptist Church Cemetery in Mills River.
