Linda Susan Brewer, a Paschal High School senior and daughter of former Texas Christian University vice chancellor, Thomas Brewer, was killed about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in a two-car accident at an intersection near Eagle Mountain Lake.

Miss Brewer was pronounced dead on arrival at Peter Smith Hospital at 11:20 p.m.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Farm Road 1220 and Lake Country Drive.

The compact car in which she was a passenger was turning into Lake Country Estates when it was struck by an auto driven by Douglas Wayne Tilleth, 41. Neither Tilleth nor William Bryan Burgess, 16, driver of the car in which Miss Brewer was riding, was injured.

The compact car was about two or three feet into the opposite lane at the time of impact, said Tarrant County Sheriff Lon Evans.

Tilleth left 24 feet of skid marks as he swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid hitting the car, but couldn't, Evans said.

Miss Brewer was a member of the South Hills Christian Church and was living with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie T. Smith, while completing her schooling at Paschal.

She was born in Denton and had moved to Fort Worth seven years ago.

Her father was recently named chancellor of East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., where he, his wife and son recently moved.

Surviving are her parents; a sister, Diane Brewer of Austin; a brother, Tom of Greenville, N.C.; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Earl J. Brewer of Fort Worth.

Private graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to a favorite charity.
