Cleveland L. Woods, 100, of 308 Russell Avenue, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009.
Born in Greenville County on September 30, 1908, Mr. Woods was a son of the late Lillie Ridgeway and Tandy Woods. He was the widower of Sarah Campbell Woods to whom he was married for 65 years.
He was retired from Kanawha Insurance Company and was a member of White Oak Baptist Church. He was recently attending St. Matthew Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Woods Eskew of Anderson, and Jan Woods Taylor and her husband, Samuel of Mauldin; four grandchildren, Ronnie Eskew, Sherry Partain, Donna Graham, all of Anderson, and Chris Taylor of Greenville; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Reverend Harvey Woods of Florence. He was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Kay, Vera Lusk, and Selly Young; and brothers, Herbert Woods, Tandy Woods, and Eldridge Woods.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2009 in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with visitation from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by The Reverend Cameron Treece and The Reverend R.V. Woods. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes.
