Sandra "Sandy" Smith, 65, of St. Augustine, died on Jan. 17, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Jacksonville and was a life-long resident of St. Augustine. Sandra was a wonderful homemaker and taught computer classes at the St. Augustine Technical Center, "Vo Tech," from the early 1990s until November of last year. She was a long-time member of St. Augustine Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a devoted Christian, an awesome wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother who was loved dearly and will be missed. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Green, and a brother, Richard Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the St. Augustine Church of Christ, 2900 Lewis Speedway, with Bob Burkert officiating. Interment will follow at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Jacksonville National Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Church of Christ building fund, Church of Christ, 2900 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, FL 32095. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence D. "Larry" Smith of St. Augustine; daughters, Bonnie Smith and Brenda Schloss-Smith, both of St. Augustine; her mother, Sarah Taylor; sisters, Alberta Vaughn, Georgina Knox, Vivian Kirby and Mary Jenkins; brother, Lanny Taylor; grandson, Mathieu Schloss; granddaughter, Jessica Green; and many nieces and nephews.
