John Board Bailey, 78 of route 2, Gladys, died Wednesday, January 30, 1991 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born In Campbell County, September 21, 1912, he was a son of the late John William and Lucy Arthur Bailey. He was a U. S. Marine veteran of World War II and a retired employee of The Lane Company. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James (Delama) Gowen of Gladys and Mrs. Wilton T. (Didamia) Wood, Sr. of Madison Heights; one brother, Melvin Bailey of Gladys and one sister, Lucy Ann McCraw of Bassett, six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Walter Yancey at Christ Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The family will receive friends at Finch and Finch Funeral Home in Altavista and other times at the residence of Mrs. James (Delama) Gowen.
