The Warren County native was born April 11, 1924. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and the choir, a World War II Army Air Force veteran and a member of Masonic Order and Eastern Star. He was also a Shriner. He was a retired superintendent for TVA, an IBEW member and a Kentucky Colonel. He always looked forward to when the whole family came home. He was a son of the late James William Thompson, and the the late Pearl Oliver Thompson.
He was the loving husband of Cora Lee Cox Thompson for sixty four years, of Bowling Green.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include three sons, Jesse Jr. and his wife Linda, Dewayne and his wife Peggy all of Bowling Green. Jimmy and his wife Paulette, of Frankfort, Indiana. 3 daughters, Nellie Hedges and her husband Daryl, Tina Gunning and her husband Mike, Melissa Matlock and her husband James Scott all of Bowling Green.
Eleven Grandchildren; Tammy Crisp, Jill Jenkins,Jonathan and Laura Hedges, Lance Thompson, Leslie Hudson, Leanna Gunning, Brandi Matlock, Brianna Scott, Jason Thompson, and Misty Thompson. There are eight Great Great Grandchildren, Ashley and Dustin Crisp, Katelynn Jenkins, Harrison and Hattie Hudson, Denver, Faith, and Taylor Hedges, and the very soon arrival of another Great Great Grandchild due in late August. In addition there are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Broadway Chapel, with burial in the Barren River Baptist Church Cemetery.
