A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Eva Jane Metcalf, He was a retired farmer and Army/Air Force veteran serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hylemon Metcalf; daughters, Hazel, Ruth & Betty; sons, Bill and John; brother; Talmadge; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
