Nettie Acuff
ATHENS — Nettie Marie Acuff, 84, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah, Tenn.
Born in Newport, Tenn., on March 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Henderson and Oma Acuff.
Ms. Acuff was an artist. Her trademark was hand-formed pottery, many of which she won several awards, including a prize winning piece displayed at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Karen Lewis; two daughters and son-in-law, Thereasa Fernandez and Angel and Lenny Johnson; brother, David Acuff; sister, Reba Beniot; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. CDT Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, Tenn.
The family will gather with friends for visitation on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. CDT at the funeral home.
