Anna (nee Stockton) Lattimore

Anna was a daughter of Prudence (nee unknown) and Samuel Stockton, and a granddaughter of Davis Stockton of Albemarle County, Virginia.

In the text of her father's 1807 will she is clearly shown as Ann Lattimore three times, however, at the bottom of this will there is a signature that is clearly Anna Stockton. It would be uncommon for an heir to sign or witness a will, but it does happen. It would also be uncommon for a married woman to use her maiden, but that also happens. It appears that Anna (nee Stockton) Lattimore might have signed Samuel Stockton's will to show the correct spelling of her first name. Unknown who Anna Stockton could be if she is not the daughter of Samuel Stockton and wife of Daniel Lattimore. Anna (maybe Ann) (nee Stockton) and Daniel Lattimore named a daughter Anna Lattimore.

She was born in Albemarle County, Virginia, probably near Mechum's River and Batesville where her father and uncle William Stockton ran a grist mill and a fulling mill (used in clothmaking). Before the Revolutionary War the Samuel Stockton family moved to Golden Valley, Tryon (now Rutherford) County, North Carolina.

Anna appears to have married Daniel Lattimore in what was at that time Tryon County, North Carolina, but is now Rutherford County, North Carolina. Son John Lattimore appears to have been born in 1778, and son Samuel appears to have been born in 1790.

There were several marriages between the Stockton and Lattimore families.

Daniel and Anna (nee Stockton) Lattimore removed from Rutherford County, North Carolina, to Jefferson County, Indiana.
