CLARENCE CODY
MARS HILL: Clarence Cody, 86, of 664 Bear Branch Rd., passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009 in John F. Keever Solace Center. He was a native of Madison County and a son of the late Euclid and Pearl Ballard Cody. He is also preceded by sisters; Shirley Willis and Cleve Holcombe and brothers; Doyle and Ernest Cody. Clarence was a World War II Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Mt. McKinley. He was a self-employed farmer and carpenter and was a member of Upper Laurel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Surviving is his wife, Alda Willis Cody who he married November 16, 1946, sons; Norris Cody and wife Susie and Myron Cody and wife Janice, daughter, Louise Wyatt and husband Terry, sister, Wanda Ramsey, grandchildren; Jennifer and husband Wayne, Jonathan and wife Sarah, Alan and wife Kim, Steven and wife Misty, Curtis and Andy, great grandchildren; Case, Lucas, Briana, Makayla, Chloe, Avery, Colby and Brooklyn.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Upper Laurel Baptist Church. Revs Cline Hensley Jr. and Joe Canipe will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military graveside rites conducted by Mars Hill VFW Post #5483. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
