Ella Mae Simler, 78, New Albany, died Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2007, at Rolling Hills Health Care Center.

Born June 3, 1929, in New Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Elzie Grubb Wilson.

She was retired from Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany, a member of Church of God of Prophecy in New Salisbury and active in the Women's League of the Salvation Army.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Jordan, and a brother, Arnold Cobb.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie Simler; a son, Glenn Jordan of Georgetown; a daughter, Elsie Mae Pitts of New Albany; three brothers, Joseph Wilson of Smithville, Tenn., and Wayne and Stanley Cobb, both of New Albany; four sisters, Marie Wheeler of Jeffersonville, Cleo Jones of New Albany, Della Faye York, her twin, of Wilmington, N.C., and Thelma Settles of Sellersburg; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Sunday, Dec. 23, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Generations Funeral Home in New Albany.

Funeral: Monday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Edwardsville Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the Salvation Army, Church of God of Prophecy in New Salisbury or church of donor's choice.
