COAL RUN - Robert L. Allender, 75, of Coal Run passed away Monday (Feb. 23, 2009) at his home. He was born July 2, 1933, in Marietta to Perley Grover Allender and Dorothy Marie Jeffers Allender.
Robert served in the Korean War from 1953 to 1958. He had been employed at Morrison's, Inc., for more than 30 years and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union 33 of Parkersburg. He was also a member of the Lowell American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, their three children, and three grandchildren (names withheld out of respect for privacy of the living). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers William, George, Perley, Jr., and Richard Allender.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 28) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. today until the hour of the service. The family will be present today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
