Eli Baker ,age 52, died at 11:30pm on Monday, July 13, 1936, at the Veterans Administration Facility hospital at Lake City, Florida. He was a War Veteran and had been in bad health for a long time.
"Aged 52 years and 10 months, Mr. Baker was well-known and popular in Anson County, where he had been engaged in farming in Lanesboro township until his health failed.His wife, who was Miss Julia Therrell before marriage, preceded him to the grave about three years ago."
Born in September of 1883 in Anson County, North Carolina. He was the Widower of Julia Therrell Baker.
Surviving are two daughters, Lela May and Eula Victoria of the home; two sons, James William and John Boyce of the home. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Liza Jane Baker and two infants.

Funeral and burial services were held at Poplar Hill Church (Poplar Hill United Methodist Church) on Thursday, July 16, 1936 at 11:00am. The rites being conducted by Rev. W.R. Harris, of Polkton.
