Mr Lippincott was a very prominent land and slave owner in Burlington County, NJ in the earlier 1800's. His name appears in several county clerk records concerning the freeing of his slaves during abolition. His wife Grace Shreve was evidently from the same NJ Shreve family that Shreveport Louisiana is now named after.

This was a marriage of two very wealthy and influential post revolution families.
