Subject of the HBO documentary "Boy Interrupted" which was released on August 4, 2009. It was presented at the Sundance Film Festival. Evan suffered from bipolar disorder. The film, produced by his parents Hart and Dana Perry, shows the struggle and pain of the family dealing with his illness. On the night of October 2, 2005, Evan and his mother had an argument at the dinner table. After that, the boy went straight to his room and told his father he was fine and he was just doing his homework on his laptop. A few minutes later, Evan jumped out of his bedroom window, killing him instantly. He was cremated and buried with his uncle Scott Perry who had the same disorder and who had also killed himself in 1971. His suicide note was written on his laptop. Evan died at the age of 15.
