He was a Revolutionary Soldier and drew a pension from 1833, to the time of his death, his pension application stated that he was in the "Battle of the Cowpens" and the "Siege of Ninety-Six", and that he served under Lt. Benjamin Lawrence, Capt. McCall, Capt. Moses Little, Capt. Richard Hurd and under Col. Pickens, of South Carolina, Col. Washington, Colonel Lee, as well as Col. James Jackson, of Georgia.
