Mrs. Lassiter was born March 5, 1924, in Northampton County, the daughter of the late Thomas Elwood Martin and Martha "Miss Pat" Edwards Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Earl Lassiter, a son, Donald Earl "Don" Lassiter, and her brothers and sister, Pervie Martin, Virginia M. Bryant, Kelly Martin, Glaston Martin, Leon Martin and Clent Martin.
Mrs. Lassiter was a lifetime member of Creeksville Baptist Church. She served her church for over 50 years as a member of the church choir and as a member of the WMU, where she served as president and represented her church for many years at the WMU Convention. She worked with the Sunbeams and the GA's. She was also Sunday school teacher, where she taught the young people and later taught the adult women's class. She loved traveling with Claire Parker and the senior citizens group.
Survivors include her sons, Mike Lassiter and his wife Pat and Bobby Lassiter and his wife Debbie, all of Conway; her grandchildren, Paul Lassiter and his wife Tammy, Stephanie Watson and her husband R.P., Donny Lassiter and his wife Jamie, Adam Lassiter and his wife Joannah, Mark Lassiter and his wife Sarah, Tina L. Moseley and Scott Lassiter; and her great grandchildren, Blake, Noah, Claire and Donald Earl.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2007, at 2 p.m., at Creeksville Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Harris and Dr. Brian Detrick officiating. Burial will follow at Creeksville Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson today, Sunday, from 7 to 9 p.m., and other times at the home.
