Wilda May Schutt Achenbach, daughter of Emerson and Mary Frances Friedemann Schutt was born September 27, 1914, in Mediapolis, Iowa.

She was a graduate of Mediapolis High school and the Burlington Junior College. Wilda was employed as a teacher.

Wilda was united in marriage on January 10, 1939 to Walter Waldo Achenbach in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at Daniels Park. They farmed on the Achenbach home farm near Cedar Bluffs from 1939-1950. They then bought and farmed south of Mt. Vernon, Iowa until 1976 when they moved and retired to Stanwood, Iowa.

She was a member of Mediapolis Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Circle of Kings Daughters. She attended the Union Church in Stanwood and belonged to the Ladies Aid.

Wilda is loved and survived by her daughter, Carol M. (Lester) Powell of Cascade, Iowa, Mary W. (Roger) Hall of Vashon, Washington; sons, Robert E. (Marsha) Achenbach of Keosauqua, Iowa, Curtis A. (Marcia) Achenbach of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Eugene W. (Julie) Achenbach of Marion, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brothers, P.B. Shutt of Seaton, Illinois and J.H. Shutt of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Mary Schutt; her husband, Walter Achenbach on June 20, 1987; granddaughter, Andrea Achenbach; brothers, Kenneth Shutt and Delbert Shutt. A memorial has been established in memory of Wilda.
