David Wayne McQuerry, age 58, of Mercer County , passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Central Baptist Hospital .
Born Tuesday, September 5, 1950, in Lancaster , KY , he was a son of the late Glen and Christine Manuel McQuerry. Throughout his life, he worked at Whirlpool/Matsushita, as well as Phillips Lighting in Danville . He also was self-employed in the lawncare and Landscaping business. David enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and traveling. He also was an avid UK basketball fan.

Survivors include his dear wife, Carol Hafley McQuerry; son, Bryon (Linda) McQuerry; daughter, Stefanie (Jerrod) Elam; step-sons, Steve and John Wilson; step-daughter, Julie Murphy; sisters, Wanda Flynn, Mildred Purcell, Margaret Lee Huffman, Loretta Parker, Virginia Simpson, Ciddy Glenna Castle, and Boots Whitaker; brothers, Jerry and Gordon McQuerry; 9 grandchildren, Sara Wardlow, Briana Wilson, Casey Galbreath, Cheyenne Elam, Jonathon McQuerry, Daniel McQuerry, Danielle Wilson, Travis Wilson, and Zeb Murphy; and 2 great-grandchildren, Gracie Moody and Raelee Murphy.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Martin, Ross, and Huston McQuerry.

A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Junior Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson-Fairview Cemetery . Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials suggested to St. Jude Children's Research.

Pallbearers will be Robert Mitchell, John K. Wilson, Stevie Wilson, Ceasar Smalley, Ronnie Tharp, Chuck Robins, Zeb Murphy, and Brent "Tank" Cummins. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Elder, Randy "Bigfoot" Harder, his children, and his grandchildren.
