Owen's military record showed him using his middle name and it was spelled "Branic", until it was corrected almost a year after his duty. A note was made on his records and the spelling changed to "BRANICK". -one "N". This is the correct spelling of the "Branick" ancestral name.

Also attached is a photo copy of his Name Sake Grandson's WWII Draft Registration with his middle name clearly printed as BRANICK and most important is his own signature in his own hand "Owen BRANICK Cribbs"

I hope this finally puts to rest how the BRANICK name was spelled.

Owen married Mary Ann Matilda Yeates. There are 2 marriage license's for them, one on 02 Apr 1860 the other 19 Jul 1860. The reason they married twice is unknown, but if I had to guess, the first marriage wasn't legal for some reason.

Matilda was the daughter of William and Mary Ann 'Polly' Yeates

Owen's 2nd marriage was on 10 Aug 1876 to Rutha Jane Powell-Green. Rutha had a 3yr old son, Owen Green, who Owen raised.
